Y'know, the Courtney Love signature guitar?

Super cool & very rare.

What's wrong with it? Very collectible and MIJ, should be pretty decent.

  • Had a surf green one a few years ago.

Usual feedback on MIJ Fenders of the period -

    Really well made
Stock pickups and electronics are dreadful.

My old Venus had a huuuge neck (as in much bigger than an R8 Les Paul I had at the same time) and seen similar feedback on having v chunky necks online.

I’ve had two a sunburst and a black one. I want another.
The neck is very nice, quite chunky. Pickups are meh though.

As above, the electrics were pants. The 12 string I had was a brute to play, couldn’t get the action down to a reasonable height, neck was chunky (which ironically I’m more of a fan of now but wasn’t then) and it just weighed a ton. I found it a really uncomfortable guitar to play and it gathered dust, a lot.

Imagine you were a newly successful rock star and get a call from someone at Fender about a signature model and get all excited then they go "it's going to be a Squier"

    Id be dead pleased.
Squiers since the Vintage Modified series have been cracking guitars, and are affordable to most.

I doubt there are many people who could afford a high end Squier but not a low end Fender.

Have you played any cheapy Fenders?
For the money, I’ll take a Squier all day long, and save myself a couple hundred, and a headache.

Ive owned ‘low end’ Fenders, and theyve been mostly shite, shoddy parts, frets and pickups and I own Epiphones which were far better than ‘low end’ Gibsons, and ive owned and played plenty.

But then ive never been a logo snob.

Havent heard a lot of great things about the Venus though.

I reckon J Mascis and the Cribs would  have been pretty happy with their Squier signatures.

I'd say Squier are more interesting than Fender these days too.

If you are getting a royalty payment on the guitars with your name on then having a cheaper model is probably desirable.

They will probably be playing the custom shop prototype anyway.

After being in lockdown living on a diet of biscuits and toast this may be the guitar for me now.

CL did indeed play a single pickup Custom Shop Fender-branded version.

It's a really cool body shape. Sort of Ricenbacker inspired.
