.. and this is my second! I already have 1 2007 Mexican Telecaster which has served me well, but with lockdown I've managed to save up a decent bit of wonga and decided to splurge on my first USA Fender.

So here it is; A Fender American Original 60's Telecaster in Burgundy Mist.

Initial impressions are it's an absolutely lovely piece of work.

The neck shape is fuller than the Mexican Tele and feels nicer to play because of it. It comes with straight barrel steel saddles, and despite initially feeling a tad wobbly intonation wise up the neck, it actually seems to have settled down quite a lot in just 24 hours, to the point of me considering keeping the straight barrel ones in. Typically I'm very much a perfectionist, and bad intonation gripes me, so for this to not speaks volumes.

There's not a whole lot on the PV 64s compared to other popular pickups, but they sound gorgeous. The tonally versatility that's available to you is vast, and is the first guitar in a long time that I don't feel the need to tinker, even slightly with.

The G&G case looks luxurious with its lovely red interior. However, I am not a fan of the latches. They tend to very easily get caught and do not flip which is not the funnest of things. If anyone has any tips with these cases, please let me know!

Also, the certificate of authenticity is a nice touch, what is not is that it comes bent due to the package they come in! Come on Fender, its an easily remedied fix, but otherwise nitpicking on an otherwise brilliant guitar.

The colour is hard to picture accurately but the finish makes it look like a mirror glaze cake, topped off with beautiful double binding, don't mind if I do!

I see many people saying that the law of diminishing returns is ever present when looking at some affordable models such as the Player Series, Classic Vibe or Baja's compared to USA, which I do understand. However, it feels as though everything is a step up on this model in comparison to those others. Not all of the step ups from those models to the AO are equal, with some differences being much closer, and others wider. But regardless they're all steps up nonetheless and I couldn't be happier.

    That's lovely.
I prefer the steel saddles to brass ones. More Telecasterish to my ears.

That's beautiful, congrats.  The color really suits the body, and the binding and fretboard (is it pau ferro, rosewood, ebony?) truly set it apart from those lesser models you mentioned.

I love the Tele's tonal versatility, and the tone itself of course.

That's lovely, I love a bound Tele, well done.

Can I ask an odd question, where do the tone/volume knob screw holes point with your controls fully turned up?

Thanks for the comments guys! Glad to see that it’s not just me being biased in how beautiful this colour and style is! I think it’s the first stock, general release Tele I’ve seen that I’ve been wowed by as soon as I saw it released. For the longest time I’ve wanted a Tele that was ‘unique’ to me but didn’t want to pay custom shop prices, and you don’t see a Tele like this everyday so I knew I had to jump on this!

That's lovely, I love a bound Tele, well done.

Thank you! The holes point directly up towards me! Any reason in particular?

thanks! It’s rosewood, although I’d love to see one in ebony...
