@Philly_Q - it's not my bestest-favourite, I think the chop in Malcolm's pick hand on "If You Want Blood..." just edges it, but that's moot really. Hell's Bells is an absolute monster of an intro and I'm splitting hairs.

There's really no arguing with AC/DC's skill at crafting a memorable intro hook.
@randella Oh god yes, there are so many of them.  It's such a shame they've completely lost that knack in recent years decades.
I guess it was always going to be a bit like the golden years of 'The Simpsons' - you'd watch in mild disbelief at how they'd kept up the quality for so many years using a couple of simple formulas, and then one day it became apparent that they'd hit the wall and they weren't funny any more.

Still, the Aussies gave us a bit to be going on with

I saw a vid of Scott Ian (Anthrax) talking about Malcolm Young once; how if he (Scott) turned up to a rehearsal and said he'd come up with an idea that just had an E-D-A progression played in open chords, everybody'd be like 'big f'n deal!".  But, in Malcolm's hands, Angus recognised the potential and it became Back in Black.

I had an interesting conversation with a music psychologist once, who specialises in hooks and earworms.  I'd been rewatching the Foo Fighters' Sonic Highways films and had absent-mindedly picked up a guitar and figured out the intro to the track Congregation.  My wife had been walking around the house humming it for a week afterwards.

I explained to my friend how the intro to the tune set it up perfectly with a clean guitar, told her the progression (G-F#-Em-D-C#-B-A) and gave her a vague idea of the rhythm.  She just nodded and said "yep, that'll do it."

The Rolling Stones have a shit load of great intros, but the guitar interplay on "Gimme Shelter" is something that never leaves you.

Yes, great tune.  Nasty intro riff, full of intent - sets the song up perfectly.

EDIT - and the non-guitarists surely know it, satisfies the OP's question!
