I never did like these sorts of lists, and this is really just clickbait in this day and age.

So thanks to those who transcribed the top 50! Saves me clicking on the RS site.

    My pleasure :)

To make sure they've left hard evidence, and can't just delete it when they realise how stupid it makes them look?

Especially in a few years time when nobody can remember who Harry Styles was! Not to mention Take That were so much better
If we are not ashamed to think it, we should not be ashamed to say it.

I want to say What’s Going On is amazing but I find it very hard to love.
Anyway, I’m trying to pick out the odd one I’m not familiar with and play that. Realistically that’ll mean fifty hip hop albums and that’s probably not happening but I’ll give D’Angelo a go with the washing up.

Does anyone actually listen to the records that they nominate for such lists?  I have three Nirvana CDs: Nevermind, Unplugged in New York and another that I can't remember the name of and all apart from Unplugged.... are rubbish even if they are continually name checked as albums you must have.  Which is why I asked the question in the first place.

Is twenty five minutes enough to say ‘D’Angelo third rate Prince what’s the point?’
Knowing nothing about him and googling it just comes up ‘...heavily influenced by Prince...’
Maybe these things have to grow on you.

Right, Lauryn Hill next. All I know about her is she made ( in my opinion obviously) one of the most hateful cover versions of all time which isn’t a great start but it’s not on Miseducation so I’ll travel in hope.

Try this when you get to the Wu-Tang Clan:

I don't like the (Wu-Tang) originals and can't help but roll my eyes at the lyrics, but it's a fun listen for large parts, and quite an achievement. I love the snippets of old newsreel dialogue that pop up in some of the songs:

[Warily, to a girl determined to get into the Beatles' hotel] 'Are you a Beatlemaniac?'
'Well you can trust us – we're not going to bite you or grab you or something.'

[To another fan] Do you think they're the best there's ever been?
    'Oh yes, definitely'
'Would you like to grow up to be a Beatle?'

I haven't put it on in a while, but from memory Forget Me Not, Uh Huh, Daytona 500, and Uzi are the best ones.

Lauryn Hill went from 314 in the last list to 10 in this one. Don’t know what that means.

The old school wicky wicky DJ noises and the conceptual padding stuff I’d live without but I get why this was such a huge hip hop/ neo soul/ rap album. Impressive list of guest guitarists too ( although sniff and you’ll miss them): Santana, Francis Dunnery, Al Anderson ( Wailers, Peter Tosh), Earl Chinna Smith ( reggae supremo).

I was actually giving this a listen today too. It’s a really good album & rare to have someone equally at good rapping as they are at singing.
To add to the list of talented musicians, I know that a young John Legend also plays piano on the album.

Her version of Killing Me Softly I still think was atrocious but somebody bought it and it’s not on the album.
