    @EricTheWeary ;
    I was actually giving this a listen today too. It’s a really good album & rare to have someone equally at good rapping as they are at singing.
    To add to the list of talented musicians, I know that a young John Legend also plays piano on the album.
    Very, very long list of musicians!

    Her version of Killing Me Softly I still think was atrocious but somebody bought it and it’s not on the album.
    Yep it was a big hit from what I remember. Just Googled it & that song was on The Fugees album.

    Would be interested to see what you think of the album Blonde - Frank Ocean.

    I want to say What’s Going On is amazing but I find it very hard to love.
    Anyway, I’m trying to pick out the odd one I’m not familiar with and play that. Realistically that’ll mean fifty hip hop albums and that’s probably not happening but I’ll give D’Angelo a go with the washing up.
    Is twenty five minutes enough to say ‘D’Angelo third rate Prince what’s the point?’
    Knowing nothing about him and googling it just comes up ‘...heavily influenced by Prince...’
    Maybe these things have to grow on you.

    Right, Lauryn Hill next. All I know about her is she made ( in my opinion obviously) one of the most hateful cover versions of all time which isn’t a great start but it’s not on Miseducation so I’ll travel in hope.
    I like Miseducation, though not as much today as when it first came out.  I was surprised to see it so high on the list.  If we count Fugees, I don't even think it's Hill's best work, that being The Score.  But Miseducation is more well-rounded than the Fugees stuff as far as genres go.

  • Miseducation is a terrific album but it is ludicrous to be considered the 10th greatest of all time.
