I got the THR100 Dual with the 2 x 12 cab when they first came out. I did around 80 - 90 gigs with this rig. I always ran the amp into both speakers. It sounded great. The cab is tough - it still looks brand new.

Well, the cab arrived on Friday from Guitar Guitar in Glasgow. As I've said, I was skeptical it would arrive, because I think they relisted them for pre-order at this price by mistake - and they were only available to pre-order for literally a couple of hours before they were unavailable again.

But I have to say fair play and credit to Guitar Guitar - they took the order, even if it was by mistake, and they delivered.

I can't really do a meaningful review, as I've only ever owned single-speaker combos before, and all I have in the house is a H&K TM18 combo, which is tiny. This is a somewhat bigger box than I've had before and probably overkill for my needs (to say nothing of two of them ...).

It seemed only right to put this together with a Yamaha THR100H (not the Dual) that I also acquired recently, and my SA2200. It sounds good, I think: the two speakers aren't wildly different to my ears (you can run them individually or together), but have enough differences that using them both at the same time gives a more complex quality to the tone that works well. I didn't find it particularly bright but then my immediate comparison is the TM18 which has a 10" Celestion Creamback, so it's bound to be a bigger sound than that!

All in all, this was such a bargain and I'm pleased I got one. It's probably too big for me really but it is fun having a good size cabinet, and it's not taking up space that's needed for something else right now, so I'll probably hang on to it for a bit.

Sorry for reviving a kind of an old thread but just wondering how you guys are getting on with these? Have been thinking of getting a cab for my Vox ACTV4 and someone near me is selling a bunch of these for £200 (which I strongly suspect he bought as part of the GuitarGuitar sale to sell on for profit... )

My Vox is only 4w so was curious if anyone has tried a low wattage amp? Does it sound good? I'd be playing it at pretty low volume so would be interested in anyone's experience with that too!

Really enjoying it, sounds good to me - and I also only play at home volumes (although occasionally at "Daaaad, turn that down!" volumes). The spread of sound and the increased bass, compared to a 1x10", is good fun.

Caveat: this is the first time I've owned a 2x12" cab so probably not the most informed of opinions.

Out of interest, I tried the cab with my outgoing H&K Tubemeister 18 combo (still for sale once lockdown is over, form an orderly virtual queue), running at 1W, and it sounds good with that too and not underpowered.
