They've listed the casino at $3000 too!

Never heard of the Weller casino. How much eas that supposed to be originally? Was it a chinese version.

Ordering is now open for these from a number of UK retailers. I've pre-ordered two Coronet's, because one just isn't enough.

  • Just been looking on Andertons.  The Wilshire, Coronet and Crestwood look great and so do the the 335s.

The acoustics also look nice, updated J200, J45, 6 and 12 string Hummingbirds, but more expensive than I expected, around £700.

  • I have ordered a black Coronet from Peach. They have the cherry one in stock, but I guess the ebony might have sold quicker?

Happy to wait, but also want to play it!

These all look great. Must be more to come as I've not seen preorders for the Riviera yet. Will there be a ES345 or ES355, pretty please!?

If they are in line with the masterbuilts then they will be decent for the price. All solid woods in the specs which is good.

I think they are probably trying to move away from chucking them out for 300 with lesser quality. Decent J200 for £700 will be tempting for many I bet.

I like the look of the Texan, might have to try one out post-lockdown.

I'll have to check it out later. Do they look any good? I'm sure the Andertons marketing will be going into overdrive either way!

They do look very nice, better than the stock photos I’d seen initially.

One of my Coronets arrived today. Fit and finish is good. Wide fat neck, very light. Excellent in itself, but even more so for the possibility of modding a bit in the future. The only thing that's not so good is the fingerboard, I think it's Laurel, and string bending is like sand paper. I've F-one oiled it, but it's made no difference, so when ive got the time ill take some fine steel wool to it. It might improve. Be interested to hear if everyone's is like that once more start to roll out. On the whole though, definitely the coolest guitar to be had for £349 new.

*edit, this Coronet is actually a tremendous guitar for the money. I cant put it down.

  • Didn't get a chance to try any but looking at the rack of epiphones when I was at PMT, that was some do the palest, driest looking fretboards I'd ever seen. Not super appealing, although I'm sure they play fine.

Based on a couple of videos that went up recently, the boards on the new 335s looks a bit better. And incidentally, Epiphone might have killed the sub £500 semi market with these - they really look the business, proper pots, binding, the pickups (if the same as in the newer Sheraton's) are more than adequate, etc. They look cracking for the money.

    Thanks for the write up.

I have an acoustic guitar with a fretboard I am fairly sure is Laurel. Like yours it feels a bit rough, but it seems a good choice for a fretboard though, a little harder than Indian Rosewood.

I've got and had a few Squiers with Indian laurel. Those have always darkened well with a few passes of lemon oil.

Tbh I can never feel an obvious difference when comparing to my rosewood guitars.

I was disappointed to note that the new Epiphone ES models hyped up with the link to Gibson (which has always been there, now includes for slightly lore on the street, slightly less in the spec ie the coil taps that enabled the player to swicth between Humbuckers and P90s is gone.

They’re suppose to be like the Gibson versions which don’t have coil splits, and having had an Epi with splits, the split was shite and absolutely nothing like a P90.

  • That single P90 coronet looks interesting
