maybe something wrong with the batch of paint, or they had just sprayed an olive drab beforehand.

Paint also looks faded, and the rosewood looks light.

I wouldn't be happy with that.

TV Yellow should really be viewed in black and white. That’s the point ;-)

@poopot is right, TV yellow is a notoriously difficult colour to photograph (much like a Goldtop).

For what it's worth, while that one does seem to have a strange green hue to it, the TV yellow of today is nothing like the TV yellow of the 50's. And it shouldn't look like a butterscotch Tele either.

If you like the guitar, can you learn to love the colour?

I get what you are saying about photographing guitars and my LP std can be a chameleon on any given day but the tele butterscotch is there as a comparison....the TVY should be in that ballpark not jungle friendly khaki green

  • Would’nt 50’s yellow have faded considerably over the last 65 years? Is it a correct replication of the fade though?

This was an aged TV yellow DC I made last year and it replaced a 60 for gigging duties, that colour I did was very close to a couple of originals I looked at, it seems to vary alot, Neil's one was a completely different shade

@Hootsmon I can't see your pics for some reason, but I've owned two CS LP Specials in TV Yellow and they've both been slightly... greenish.  Or khaki-ish.

It's very hard to describe the colour except to say it's a drab yellow, as opposed to a cheerful yellow.  Nothing like the banana/mustard colours you see on cheap Jr/Special copies.

It does seem to be a colour which photographs weirdly, as well - I saw one not long ago which the guy was sure was TV Yellow, but it looked TV White to me.

I'd like to see the pictures because the description of the colour as slightly green doesn't surprise me. TV Yellow varies greatly - it varied in the 50s and it varies on the reissues. I'd be surprised if the colour is that out of the ordinary.
