My miniature schnauzer appears to have decided today is a good day to be loud and annoying, just as I have several quite important zoom meetings so, with sadness, I offer him up as trade for a mid range Les Paul.  Posted via Parcelforce. No manual unfortunately

@Dominic Do you have experience/knowledge of Deerhounds? I have registered my interest with this little (not so little) chap. A deerhound cross, I’m just wondering if there is anything I should know about their traits?

    https://foreverhoundstrust.org/dog/duster/
Yes ,I have bred Wolfhounds for 35 years and kept them since childhood ,I have had a Deerhound and a Deerhound Lurcher and have judged them .
Temperment of deerhounds is very similar to both Wolfhounds and Greyhounds .....they are gentle and a bit shy like greyhounds but not as clumsy as Wolfies .......Aghans are similar as are Salukis and Ibizans but the only hound group dog that is different and little bit less well meaning is a Borzoi.
PM me if you want to know any more.

Brilliant, thank you for replying. I’m just waiting for a call from them.

Any specific questions you think I should ask them?
Tomorrow will be a good day.

He struck a chord with me as I used to look after a friends old Irish wolfhound “Oakley” who was brilliant and had the same coat.
Tomorrow will be a good day.

Just to add I wouldn't put a whole load of trust in KC hip scores. As someone said on page 1 (DigitalScream maybe) a full lineage and vet check to be more sure. Our Golden's parents had good scores but arthritis set in at age 6 in his back legs. That and an underlying heart condition that just got fixed last year means that while he can still run in short bursts and get around OK, we can see the deterioration and stairs are becoming something to avoid.

We never bothered registering him as we were never going to show him and we had to have him neutered (due to an undecended testicle that needed fixing) so his genes aren't getting passed on but he's cost us a small fortune over the last couple of years (well over twice our insurance pay out max)

Wouldn't change him for the world though. Completes the family.

That's the trick. Arthritis isn't screened for in the hip scores - only dysplasia, to my knowledge (which can, of course, be a contributory factor, but not the whole story).

However, given the rate at which breeders "work", even his grandparents would only have been 4 or 5 years old by that point, so you'd have to look at the great-grandparents for an idea of whether arthritis even exists in the line (particularly with the kinds caused by immune diseases etc).

Ooh, just got a call back from them finally. Had a quick chat and the rehoming specialists are now going to call soon. Come on home my boy!

Fab news, though just as I type that my little pooch, lying next to me, has just released the most vile, noxious miasma of egginess, so right about now I would advise you to think carefully. They can be stinky little furballs.

    I bet I do stinkier ones!  ;)

The call went well but they had lost my original submission somehow  :s

Still, that’s all sorted and am just waiting for a video conference call now.

He’s chipped, vaccinated and neutered but can’t be walked off lead as he likes to have a pop at little dogs and cats. Well he is a sight hound so to be expected.

They want £300, £20 admin fee and £280 donation and will have four weeks insurance with petplan. I’m happy with all that. Fingers crossed now.
Tomorrow will be a good day.

Phone call went very well, lovely lady who was impressed with my gaff and surrounding area. Looks like Duster might just be coming home, I’ll not count me chickens just yet though.
Tomorrow will be a good day.

Brought this little pup home from a breeder last weekend, say hi to Daisy the black Lab. We lost our chocolate Lab Mac three years back, feels great to have a dog back in the house again.

    @zepp76 hope you get a result.  ;)

    Wow, she's lovely Boogie.

Thanks....she’s actually a little sod :) you forget that puppies pee and poo everywhere and you can’t leave them for more than 10 seconds before they’re chewing on something they shouldn’t. We still think she’s great though, she certainly seems pretty bright too.
