Wider Fretboard Guitars?

I recently bought a used Squier Tele Affinity and while the neck was really smooth and well finished the fretboard was just way too narrow. I have small fingers but I find I have larger finger pads and slightly chunkier fingers.Any recommendations for wider fretboard electrics?

How wide is the neck on your Tele?

It seems everybody has their own idea of what constitutes narrow.

My definition is clear and unambiguous; it’s anything that feels uncomfortably narrow

Less flippantly it’s not just the width; neck profile, radius and depth all affect what one perceives as the width.

I wouldn't touch a Gibson,a bit too pricey and too many variables involved. I had an SG that I didnt like but I recently tried a used Vintage V100 Les Paul style and quite liked that.

A quick Google shows a new Affinity has a 42mm nut width, but some older results show 41mm, have you measured yours?

I just picked an Epiphone Les Paul as a random alternative and that is listed as 43mm, so maybe something more Gibson style might feel easier, with the flatter fretboard too.

    Buy yourself a classical
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

  • PRS SE series are all (I think) "wide thin" - 42.8mm nut. Certainly wider than any of my other guitars and I reach for it if I'm struggling to get a chord to ring cleanly.

Probably not much good if you're playing anything other than metal, but the Solar guitars all seem to have fairly wide fretboards
Too much gain... is just about enough \m/

Realistically the difference in nut width in guitars is not that much..only a couple of millimetres, unless you move to a classical guitar which has already been mentioned. My classical guitar is 51mm wide at the nut.
I don`t know how experienced you are as a player but correct posture, positioning and technique will have a massive effect on your ability to progress. You may find that changing the angle of the guitar on your lap or the angle of the neck might enable you to make the chords etc, without catching the other strings and muting or buzzing.

Another plug for 2015 Gibsons especially Les Paul Juniors. Nice comfortable wide necks on a lively resonant guitar and because of the tronical tuners are a bit marmite, so still relatively affordable.
