Actually now I look again, I notice the neck pickup is close to the end of the fretboard....

It just feels right whereas the Gibsons didn't, and in particular a custom shop guitar sounded bad too. The neck pickup is placed where a 59 special would be, before Gibson repositioned it to strengthen the neck joint.

SG and a P90 is a match made in heaven tbh! Love the PJE Macons with a P90 in the neck however!
