I listen to them on Spotify. There are quite a few versions of the same song which is interesting. Fripp's ambient soundscapes are a one-off event - he never plays the same thing twice. Not sure I'd buy the CD set but there are some excellent tracks and some dross.

My fave ambient album is No Pussyfooting by Fripp & Eno
Also Ambient 4: On Land by Eno
A hidden gem is Jack Jutson - Mother. You should check that out for something a little different.

First time I've heard Kick Muck called ambient!  Trivia: it was originally an acoustic riff and makes an appearance in this form one one of the tracks on Technicians..

Ozrics do good ambient though. They even created an ambient side project called Nodens Ictus.

    Feelin' Reelin' & Squeelin'

I know, it ain't really, but seeing as I saw an Ozric track earlier, I felt compelled to introduce the O.P to that track ;)

  • I like writing to Russian Circles, Pelican & Tacoma Narrows Bridge Disaster (Drew's band).
All are more instrumental than ambient, but all are great bands.

  • Not entirely sure where the line is between ambient & instrumental. So these may not be what you're after.
Northumbria (from Canada) on Cryo Chamber, many others also on Cryo Chamber, notably Keoz, Sabled Sun, Dronny Darko (yes really). I probably like Northumbria best, check out their instrumentation & live recoding technique.

Barn Owl (electric duo rather than folk band). II;  Ancestral Star & Lost in the Glare in particular.

    Thumbs up for Hania Rani.

Might be getting a bit metal, but Dog Chasing Sun has some good tracks.

  • I am a fan of bitchin' Baja's - its sort of more drone based...... but for modular synth ambient stuff the records Tim Gaine of Sterolab made as Cavern of anti matter are pretty good
