The Chris De Burgh Appreciation Thread.

What's Hot
Sorry, I've woken up with a whacking migraine and just needed a quiet space to myself.
My muse is not a horse and art is not a race.

I actually had a few of his albums back when I was at school, I think when I was about 15 or so. I used to think "The Getaway" in particular was pretty good. (This was before "The Lady In Red" and the much publicised nanny-shagging era.) Got rid of the whole lot when I realised they were crap.

A few years ago I got another copy of The Getaway out of nostalgia and wondering if I had misjudged it...

    I hadn't.

I still have 'A Spaceman Came Travelling' on a Christmas compilation, but that's as far as I'd go now.

So there it is… I used to like Chris de Burgh and now you all know.

Joining Alcoholics Anonymous should be easy compared to that.

What an inglorious end to such a distinguished career on this - and indeed MR before it - forum.

Still, at least this shocking revelation will take the heat off Sir Cliff for a few days....

My older sister had the album called Spanish Train and Other Stories ... long time ago ... but I think maybe there were one or two decent pop-singer-sonwriter tunes on there ... like ICBM I too remember The Getaway and went to see him at Newcastle City Hall on that tour

  • In fairness if you were born with Chris De Burgh's physical traits and then somehow found women throwing themselves at you then who wouldn't be loving it?!
