One of my friends had Smashing Pumpkins - Mayonaise.   A song i always loved and a perfect choice for him, although its now a very difficult song for me to listen to

  • My mum sang Ave Maria at my Gran's funeral. She couldn't finish the piece though as the occasion overwhelmed her and it was very distressing to see. I find it hard to listen to for the same reason. It is a beautiful piece of music though (Bach/Gounod version).

Wagner's Ring Cycle, all 20 odd hours of it. I'll be pissed off and I'll want everyone else to be miserable as well.

I'm not locked in here with you, you are locked in here with me.

    Pink Floyd Comfortably numb

    Jimi Hendrix Little wing

All cos these are (probably) my favourite songs.

Condolences too all those who've lost people recently

  • I spend an oddly large amount of time thinking about this, although have never really reached a conclusion. As I won't be the one hearing it I suppose it doesn't really matter at all but a friend of mine died of cancer a few years ago and organising the funeral ( including the music) occupied a lot of her final weeks.

Currently thinking Boy Named Sue by Johnny Cash, so if I get knocked over by a bus tomorrow if someone could let MrsTheWeary know ( although she will change it for something by Seth Lakeman anyway).

Having listened to Vincent Black Lightning by Richard Thompson about 100 times in the last month that seems more funereal so I might go with that as well.

But fairly certain the song MrsTheWeary would most associate with me would be Should I Stay or Should I Go -  so it'll be that (and it has a certain twist in the context of a funeral).

I'd like my boy to play some of his heavy blues, good & loud. He's just turned 15 but can pretty well rip it up. In fact I'd like to be there to play it with him. Then I promise to go back into the box quietly.

  • I've often said that apart from being buried and having the usual graveside committal I don't want a funeral. But if family members insist on one, then I want them to rig up a stereo system and play from end to end my boxed LP set of George F Händel's Messiah. No talking, but it will be a long "funeral".
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself

  • Feck, just struck me - Six Strings Down by Jimmie Vaughan. The original recording, not one of the jammed versions.
