I was about 10 mins behind you all but I'm sync'd now. Got slightly waylaid.

I almost missed the beginning because - and I know this sounds like the guitarist's equivalent of "I was washing my hair" - I was rewiring my board ...

This one is less Neil Young and more Steve Earle.

Not sure about the high register. Would be a great one for Neil. Reminds me of one of his but can't think which. Cripple Creek Ferry maybe.

    John Henry Split My Heart...

That is a reference to Boston Red Socks and Liverpool owner (I think that right) John Henry. Jason was a huge baseball fan and there are some references to walls and lines.

Probably needs a good few listens to appreciate everything going on here.

Not been a stand-out track for me so far, but that probably means that the quality is pretty consistent.  Nothing that really really grabs me (on first listen), but nothing that's had be reaching for the OFF button either.

Sure. It's not the most commercial of records but it has a lot of depth.

Apart from the odd track I've like most of them thus far. I didn't comment on side one because you were all ahead but first track was good.

There's Neil Young and Neil Young and Crazy Horse and this is very similar. That last one was NY&CH.

Cheers Mark. Some good one's in there. I did a sneak preview this afternoon so knew roughtly what to expect. It was actually good to listen to one or two of them a second time.

Good and interesting choice @Fuengi ; - I'm as sure as I can be that I'd never heard any of that before, so thanks for the intro to something completely different.

    Enjoyed it.

    Slow and powerful.

I hope you enjoyed it, I found a lot of those songs really wormed my ear after a couple of listens and the ones that didn't initially are probably my favourites now.

His songwriting style isn't easy to decipher at first, or possibly ever, but there are a few killer lines in there that really make me think every time.

"Didn't used to be so hard / Used to be impossible".

A wonderful talent taken all too soon. Sadly a familiar tale.

Interesting album to listen to. Not my usual kind of thing and definitely not something I would have chosen for myself.

But I'm pleased to have heard it and wouldn't be averse to hearing it again. So thanks @Fuengi!

I preferred side 1 to side 2 - the combination of more overt country and very slow songs on side 2 didn't really do it for me, whereas the slightly faster songs on side 1 was more to my taste.

I preferred side one I think but my favourite track was on side 2.

The first release had an additional track. The deluxe reissue version has the demos and Jason taking the vocals on both the ones he skipped off the album.
