Download on Sky Arts

It says new, part 1/2 at 9pm tonight. 

I have watched Download hilights on Sky Arts before and there was a strong sense of they showed what they were allowed to show rather than what you might want to see. But if you are interested it’s on tonight (presumably part deux next week).

Ooh, thanks for posting that @EricTheWeary, I never would've noticed.

Only missed the first 20 minutes.  I guess they'll repeat it at some point, but I don't look at the TV schedules.

KISS shows just don't seem as big as they used to, and they started it all.

Watching Glastonbury on TV and comparing it to this, I have come to the conclusion that the BBC can't mix sound.
Look at that BBC! you can hear the guitars AND vocals!! It's not either/or. And, as it turns out. It's not my fuddy duddy hearing after all.!

I didn't see the whole programme, so I may have missed some good bits... I only saw Biffy Clyro, Skindred, Black Label Society, Wayward Sons (Jesus, was that Toby Jepson?), Monster Truck and Kiss.  And some bloke playing an acoustic guitar for what seemed like hours....

Tell you what, never heard Skindred before, I really enjoyed them, will have to check them out.

Amazing band. Huge energy and Benji is one of the best frontmen I’ve ever seen.

And Bruce doesn’t?! He looks like Gareth Bale’s grandad with that ridiculous top knot. 

He looked much better with short hair a few years back. I though Harris looked the same as ever.

Damn, I missed Maiden?  Hopefully they'll repeat it at some point.

I caught a few minutes of I don't know who, but there was a female vocalist in her underwear and a guitarist growling vocals. I switched channels after about 60 seconds.

Bruce is the baby of the band.  He's only 63.

I watched up until the end of Wargasm for the pointy Jacksons and the buttocks.   I know it's 2022 and I'm not proud of myself but I like looking at both those things.

Despite my best mate producing the Download show for Sky, I find it a hard watch these days...I'm simply not the target audience anymore.

Loved Maiden in the 80’s, the Dianno years and early Bruce years. 

Find them a bit cringey now with Bruce, it’s like a big choreographed pantomime. And Janick Gers gets on me tripe , messy player and just runs about like a knacker.

I don’t mind the cringe. They were on form when they played the O2 in 2019. 

But Janick Gers gets right on my threpnies; I’m sure he’s a nice bloke, but all he does is ruin Ade and Dave’s solos when he gets to play them live.

I was a total metaller in my youth, especially thrash, and I went to a pile of gigs including Monsters of Rock.
I felt disconnected last night watching this for sure. I guess I'm old! I was aware of Skindred back in the day but they weren't really my thing but on the tellybox they really stood out. Benji's the boy, eh?
I'm a massive Biffy fan and they always deliver though.
