Not sure why, my mate was selling one a while back ...no takers, ended up trading in at a shop ?

I’ve got one of these from ‘84, different finish. Were they custom shop? I thought that didn’t start till later, 90’s.  Or do you mean it was a custom order for someone?  

Lovely looking guitar, mine is in black and not as pretty!

Although the Gibson Custom Shop wasn’t formally established as a separate production facility at Gibson’s plant in Nashville Tennessee until 1993, there is plenty of evidence that custom, limited edition and one‑off special guitars were being produced by a specialist team within the main Gibson facility from as early as 1983/1984. Hope that help's.  Mine is a Custom Shop and has a water slide saying so on back of the headstock.
