Just re Deacon Blue- genuinely now, not jesting as I possibly was before, the girl in that band was utterly awful and her melodic interventions were exactly the opposite of that....

Don't really think we should be getting into ideas about the population of this or that country having this or that deficiency (though I'm sure you're having a laugh really)

The Raveonettes are from Denmark, that disproves that one for me at least.

Nazareth were never good..

they were the band you so wanted to be good cos the cover to No Mean City is sooo hugely cool..

you sit there looking at the album cover... wanting epic and awesome..

and no matter how hard you try, you just totally fail to like what falls out of your speakers..

Starlight Starbright, This Flight Tonight? I liked those at the time. You're right about that great cover, no idea about the contents. (I'd avoid the book)

No Mean City was the first cassette I ever bought. I thought it was a fine album at the time but, yes, the cover was better. I then saw them on the NMC tour and IIRC they didn't play a single song off it. Ah, the English always get confused about this one. Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and even England are countries within the United Kingdom, but not independent ones.
Saw a summary a while back that the English will often interchange English/England with British/Britain without thinking, the Scottish and Welsh distinguish the nationalities, but only the Northern Irish will correct you on the difference between Great Britain and the UK.
