Maybach guitars.

What's Hot

Before I came on this forum,I had never heard of Maybach guitars.
A few questions, how do they compare to Gibson Les pauls?I have never been a fan of Gibson's although I had a Jap copy of a Gibson acoustic for many years, how do they  compare to equivalent guitars, are they expensive for what you get? Or are they cheap?what is the build quality like? I have read that they are built in Germany,do they make them anywhere else? I have seen the Lester on here but do they make any other styles? I have been online but would like to hear from my  Fret Board Brothers who can give a genuine opinion ( sisters as well,of course).

Never picked one up but I saw some on display at a show and they didn’t look cheaply made

They make ‘copies’ of Fender, Gibson and a sort of B&G inspired thing called the Little Wing.

I have a Little Wing cutaway and had a Lester. I’ve found them to be a significant step up from Gibson and I’d love to get my hands on a slab guitar from them to see what that’s like.

Short version, I have a Maybach Lester which I bought in January this year. I used to own two Les Paul Standards (an ebony ‘93 and a Premium Plus top Honeyburst’03). I’ve sold them both and have now another Maybach Lester on order.

Germany company, built in Czech Republic.

Edit, I’ll do a long response when I’m not knackered. Just got in from doing a gig…..with my Maybach.

Went through a lot of Gibson Les Pauls (including an R8) before settling on my 2012 R7 Custom

I played a Maybach Lester at Project Music earlier in the year, another custom, and was impressed enough to place a preorder for a burst model. It took a long time to get here but it was worth the wait

Quality-wise I'd put it up with my LPC. It has a snappier and brighter primary tone. The wood seems well treated. Resonant and dry

They are traditional feeling guitars, make sure you like big necks. Gets to around 1" around the 12th, with a slight asymmetry

Eastman are a good option if you like things on the slim side and don't want to remortgage the house

Has anyone tried the LP custom versions: The Black Velvet, or the aged white Eidelweiss? I could be tempted

I'm not a Les Paul guy, but my favourite one I've played was a Maybach in Guitar Village. Lovely low-output pickups - very articulate.

I’ve just bought a second hand Maybach Keith Richard’s tele (humbucker in bridge). Very resonant and great value - plays and feels like a high quality telecaster.

My 58 Lester. Absolutely fabulous guitar, and the only LP I’ve ever got on with.

  • desperately waiting on Project Music to get more stock so I can go have a play. I don't really need another guitar but these have certainly peaked my interest
