Undoubtedly some golf clubs need to move out of the 19th century but there are plenty of other institutions similar.

Plenty of golf clubs and players aren't aresholes. And plenty are. Just like guitarists.

English rugby is run by women these days. MCC have a women's team. It's all good.

Golf is not really that snobby. I've been playing since I was a young teenager and have only experienced snobby or sexist attitudes a couple of times. The rest of the time it has been really social, good natured and just a bloody good excuse to get it for a walk amongst nature. When you get to a standard where you can hit the ball OK then you get to enjoy the technical and tactical aspects of the game too.
But, the Ryder Cup is not just about the golf. It's a great format meaning that the team have to play together. It gets the spectators more for up because there is only 2 sides and the individuals are less of a focus. It gets fiery and tense but the players are usually very sporting. I love it.

Brilliant ! I have watched Ryder cups since I was about 16 and that was one of the finest quality tournaments I have ever seen ! Go Europe !
