@markv cheers - I've spent much of the last few months painting and wiring and lugging furniture. This is a good official opening for it :)

  • I first heard Thunder Road as a cover by Tortoise and Bonnie Prince Billy, I'll post it after the album's finished, it's really good.

Springsteen was never on my radar till about 10-15 years ago when I got it.

For me Springsteen started in my early 20s. I won a best of in a radio competition and it was all I listened to for weeks. Then I got the 7-album box set and the rest is history.

I was there in Hyde Park with @not_the_dj and @guitargeek62 when he opened with Thunder Road in 2012, just him and the Bittan on piano. I don't think there was a single person there not in bits :)

A brilliantly upbeat song to start the album

TR might be my favourite song of all time. At least this week.

And Tenth Ave Freeze Out is at least 30% of the reason I want to find a horn section for my band... :D

In other news, I want a beanbag so I can sit right comfortably on the floor in front of my speakers...

"Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out" reminds of similar era Van Morrison (this is a good thing). Just me?

How on earth did I miss these happening before now?? I should probably come to this side of the forum more often…

I’m currently holed up in bed recovering from my vasectomy that I had this afto, so taking a nice timeout to listen through this album again sounds like a great idea to me. I’ve seen The Boss a few times now and love his story-telling approach to music; Nebraska will always be my favourite LP of his though, but BTR is next in line. :)

    Wuss.

In.  Snip.  Out.  Back to the football pitch later that afternoon.

(No, not me - you're not getting me anywhere near those snippers).

Is Silvio from the Sopranos playing on this?
Yes, he's listed on Thunder Road but I can't see him noted on any of the other songs..

Is Silvio from the Sopranos playing on this?
He did the horn arrangements on 10th Ave and joined the band for the tour. The rest is history :)

It's funny as this record doesn't actually have all the E Street band on half of it. Max Weinberg isn't on BTR and still can't play the tricky fill in the middle :D
