Not sure on a viva date, I would expect some time before Christmas, but I've heard of people waiting only a few weeks, or several months... I got a couple of papers out so hopefully that will stand me in good stead!

aha, boffin then. You'll find a job no problem then. And if all else fails, you can always have a lab accident and become a super powered villain (one of my chief regrets is not being smart enough to have a lab accident, the best I could ever hope for was to be a henchman, you know, the kind who gets beat up in the 1st scene).
