The "modern nutcracker" you seek is a computer with a CD reader and a USB socket, but you've decided you don't want one.
Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.
I mean who lets someone off the street walk in , download torrrent software, go to a Dodgy site, stick in a USB Pen and then copy it.... Nothing locked down.
Got to love Steve Jobs.
Had it been Curry's nothing would work
I was quite tempted by the Brennan kit as I was toying with getting a CD player anyway. But their forum is full of people moaning about it breaking and poor customer service, and the Ripping takes as long as it takes to play the Cd so very slow
Plug into phone with an otg cable

For me I would use a Raspberry Pi and a USB CDROM, Once they are ripped then stream them through the house or copy the MP3 to USB stick
Using a Mobile Phone to rip CD's sounds too much hard work
Or just buy them from Amazon /Google etc

EAC on my computer, no longer has the database link it had when I first installed it. It might be possible to reinstate it or add the address of another database, if so please let me know what address it is at. Now when I rip a CD [to FLAC] I manually type in the song names and use MP3TAG [a free app] to 'attach' a scanned image of the CD album cover to each track. A bit slow but it works as I like to see the album cover on my iPad when I play the tracks.
Thanks.
