A few years back I bought a pair of these because I was commuting by bike through London and wanted something that could handle a bit of bad weather. Goretex lined, rugged looking. They've served me well but getting pretty tatty now. I want something new, and different, but similar.

I like the colour, but anything earthy is fine. I like that they're mid/hi style. I like waterproof but will go with just water resistant.

Anybody got any suggestions? I've seen some Vans and Etnies winterised which are an option.

    I'd spend close to £100.
    What are these @roundthebend ; ? Wouldn't mind a pair myself!

oh my god. The fact that Hotter and Skechers are mentioned in one thread is enough to make me weep. What are we, geriatrics with gimmy feet????? Never, ever will anything by those two shockers get over the threshold here!!! I'm sure you can get them on prescription.......

Have a look at Palladium, see if there is a sale on any of their boots. In the sale they are good value.
Also have a look at Blundstone boots - good value again, and last for ever.

Whatever you get - lather them in nickwax or similar regularly.

Boots are something worth spending a bit on if you can. Good ones can last decades. Another Redwing fan here. They ust get better with age.

I can highly recommended "Mammut" footwear. Don't know if they have anything that kind of style and maybe a little expensive but not by much. Some of them are a bit jazzy.

    Clarks Lorsen Hi GTX Brown

I haven't found them available anywhere other than an ebay seller and at a much higher price than I paid. I got them for £35 + £7 P&P from BrandAlley.

So that's two comments from you so far relating solely (geddit) to the look of the footwear regardless of any aspects of practicality, price or suitability.
Any helpful candidate suggestions from yourself?

You can’t have walked past a sketchers store recently then as they’re all fancy fashion shoes now and actually quite pricey for the top of the range ones.

My boss told me "dress for the job you want, not the job you have"... now I'm sat in a disciplinary meeting dressed as Batman.

They look good. Remind me of Timberland boots in terms of shape & style.

Err, no they are not fancy or fashionable. They are universally awful. Not particularly good either.
Apparently they do they odd shoe that is down with the kids.

Skechers are part of the go to uniform of American Dad on Holiday. This outfit consists of some pair of style deprived walking trainer/Skecher, knee length manky shorts, crap t shirt and the ubiquitous baseball cap. Uncanny how many blokes dress just like that in the US.

Partly based on recommendations here, in March I purchased a pair of Redwing Iron Rangers from the store in London. I immediately loved them ... however after a month of daily wear at work, the right boot was digging in really painfully to the tendon on top of my big toe. The issue was that, when I flexed my foot, while the left boot creased straight across the leather behind the toe cap and was totally comfortable, the right one creased diagonally.

So I wrote to Redwing, who immediately offered an exchange. I've been wearing the new pair for about six weeks now, and they are (both!) really comfortable. Lovely footwear and great customer service.
