The issue with many 'vintage' guitars and many of its relative parts, is that times have moved on - If the Strat had just been invented today, and promoted accordingly via the press and media channels, then it would not have such grub screws sticking out of 'poxy' bent saddles - The whole format would have been updated in some way or another - You can still have S bent steel saddles, but the housing for the grub screw would be better designed etc

I've got the same issue with my Gotoh 510 bridge. The grub screws are 10mm long but not sure what size they are. Googling suggests M3 but can anyone here confirm that?

Thanks for all comments.  I tried a shim which was very easy but I realised that what I really needed was three sets of grub screws; high medium and low.
    Some decent info from here:

I bought a set of extra short screws so I have:

    E and E Extra Short - 1/4" or 6.35mm
    B and A Short - 5/16" or 7.95mm
    G and D Long - 3/8" or 9.52mm
