This is my favourite… everyone will say this is modern… but blindfold tests again and again with crocodile clips etc  revealed less treble loss… so I had my R9 wired this way.

this is the “ normal”  modern wiring, so it’s quite different and I’m not electronically savvy enough to tell you why it sounds different or for that matter why it should sound the same, but I tried them both, and I heard a difference.

Just for completeness here is 50s , I did not care for it, but it has its fans and that’s fine , but if you want less treble loss without the 50s weird stuff, consider trying the Modified Standard wiring before soldering it all together.

The caps are original vintage ‘bees that I paid stupid , but not catastrophically stupid money for and they have drifted to an almost perfect 0.012uF and 0.010uF, which gives zero mud.

I wouldn't trust 50's wiring myself...insulation will have broken down by now!
