Yes. Old music is boring. Most recent additions to my Spotify library:

Asterean - Sovereign. Cheesy death metal. Not as good as Cosmorama, but still good.
Kiasmos - Flown - very chilled electro.
Traindodge - post hardcore, but more hardcore than post. No growling or shouting.
Kichi - breakbeat (I think) and guitars. Might be maidcore, whatever that is.

Thanks, I will check them out. From my perspective, NewDad, Lime GardenSprints, Whitelands & English Teacher have all released good albums in 2024. There was a time in the recent past when I struggled to find anything new to like, but the new generation of guitar bands seem to be more on point these days.

I had a quick listen to those - only quick. Whitelands I like. Sprints are promising - will give them more of a go.

You might maybe like White Lung. A bit more frantic, and last album was 2022 (and they've now split up).

    Maybe JunkBunny.

Add Just Mustard to your list if you like Shoegazy/Experimental guitar stuff. They are the band who got me listening to new music again. Robert Smith is a big fan.

Do you mean 'new music to you' - ie, something that could be 70 years old but you haven't heard before - or 'new music' in the sense that it's only just been recorded?

Tip: you can edit the original post if you delete the static links and redo them.  I know this from prior experience of messing  up links  :)

The bands you posted here and above is right up my street, and I generally like to listen to new things before I open up a blank DAW project. Not to copy, just to be inspired and have an eye on the latest trends. I'm rubbish at copying anyway, that's why I only play my own stuff

    Some stuff from recent years
Some interesting stuff there, and I definitely wouldn't have found it on my own!

I forget to mention Mannequin Pussy and their highly rated new album. They will also be playing some UK dates later this year. Also the new Vampire Weekend album is pretty good, but it's not as hard as the stuff you like.

I will give them a go, and look out some if the "easier" new finds in my collection for general consumption. :)

Though Brutus's latest album is a lot poppier...

It's outside of my musical appraisal skills but it's getting good reviews.
