Ah I spent many a happy hour playing that and Quake II was great as well. 

I still play Quake II now occassionallly

Modern FPS'es always feel slow and disconnected compared to quake 1, the only thing that really got close was the original unreal tournament.

Yep, another big + 1 for wolfenstein..played the first version on a 20mb HD 1mb ram PC running DOS 5
Still got all them old games but no machine will run them easy unless it's a dinosaur

I've got Wolfenstein and it runs ok on a old laptop I've got running Vista.

And Doom? Oh yeah!

You can get it now. It's on open beta (with a premium pre-purchase price). There are still likely to be many, many changes but the core game is there.
