I loved Doom and Quake 1 & 2.  Unreal too.

FPSs all got a bit dull after that.

I was a big fan of call of duty, though now they're just a linear string of cut sequences with shooting in between.

The multiplayer is awesome though. I don't play anymore, I'd rather spend my money on guitar than an xbox

I think Halo deserves a mention for setting a whole new standard, too.

The original Unreal (not tournament) was what I was all about back then. From waking up in the crashed prison ship to exploring the sky villiage... awesome.
