I know it’s all about the Mater Built Gs around here at the mo. Absolutely drool worthy they all are too but here’s a thread for a humble Japanese built model
It’s taken a while to dot the Ts and cross the Is on this one but I now have this glorious 53 Vintage Select Duo Jet. And just like the 59 VS, the attention to the details of producing a really authentic sounding and feeling repro of the era is so impressive. This one is light as feather, clear as a bell and resonant as a……… as a really resonant thing.
So to mark the happy occasion, we snuck off for a little photo time.

Nice that it's light too. I'm always shocked that despite the very extensive chambering, the Jets can be very heavy - or is that just the Electromatics? There was a local one for sale recently that was 10.5lbs! That's Norlin LP territory!
Anyway. Sorry for the derail. Quite stunning and I hope it sounds as good as it looks.
Amazing photos too.
Nice guitar too. The single coils have tonnes of jangle
The yard is nothing but a fence, the sun just hurts my eyes...
Anyway, HNGD. That's a fabulous guitar.
I had a 53VS at the same time as my Gallup sig Duo Jet. Both were identical construction with the same extensive '50s' chambering but the 53 was 7lbs and the Gallup was 8lbs. I never figured out why. Both were superb guitars.
Great photography Daz. You should take it up as a living lol
