I wonder what the Strymon into the Free The Tone pedal would sound like . . .

  • Just discovered I can buy direct from Strymon, get it internationally shipped by Fedex and have it within a week for £320 plus local taxes which are about £17 (and Fedex may even sort that out for me). I think we have a winner :D
    Do it!

I've been looking at high end delays and I'm puzzled by the fact that the Echolution 2 offers so much and sounds amazing in the demos and yet I don't think many of you have got them despite being quite a bit cheaper than a Timeline or a Time Factor.

Probably because it looks ugly and daunting. It's basically a black monolith which doesen't hint much at what's inside. Guitarists like things that are simple with nice easily labelled knobs. And the copy on the pigtronix site is awfully written too, "Transistor limiters and non-linar Emulator stages, 24 bit variable clock multi tap delay line" I know what most of those words mean but it's still tripping me up at points.

  • The trouble with the Pigtronix is it looks extremely complicated and they haven't made it obvious in the marketing that it's simple, whereas the Timeline looks dead simple to use, even if it isn't (I don't actually know), and the Timefactor looks complex but also looks like a complex bit of rack gear which hints at the power it has to create new sounds.

I agree they don't make it obvious.

They are also missing a trick by not making it really obvious in the blurb that it can also do Flanger, Phaser, Chorus, Vibe, and bit crusher sounds as well as delays.

I'm seriously considering getting one, but I can't decide if it's worth paying extra for the LEDs on the front or if it's complex enough that you would only edit it via the PC application anyway.

I have a Flight Time incoming. It hasn't requested a landing slot from the Tower yet, but hopefully shortly.

Timeline is very good at some things, but tone is its weakness.

Prov Chrono (a cousin of the FTT) is a little marvel of a delay pedal.

  • Woo! This thing is really good.

They might be pretentious sods but they know how to make a good delay pedal.

  • I've posted this week about this pedal already but have you checked out the new Seymour Duncan Vapor Trail? Seems to tick most boxes for me :)
