Well, as everyone knows Phil, Margate has always been at the cutting edge of technology, so these days we drive motor cars, and also have boats with engines in. Thus we no longer have to depend on livestock, wind, or tide.

My parents live right on the flight path near Twickenham and although it never bothered me as a kid growing up (except Concorde, that thing was a different story altogether) it was just background noise, every 2 minutes!!

When I visit now it drives me nuts.
