well, it's a testament to the fact that we've put a lot of effort into creating the right environment for dormice that we have them. Hopefully we have more dormice than she's found.

I feel the same way, which is why I don't eat anything and have deliberately suppressed my own immune system in case I inadvertently murder a microbe.

there's nothing quite like the smell of a dead mouse...we used to live in the sticks and our cat must have brought in a mouse every day for 8 years. Sometimes she'd leave one out of sight and after a couple of days you'd go downstairs and be hit with the non mistakable smell of death...

Had a similar thing recently. The kitchen started to smell distinctly of poo... I thought we might have a cracked drain or something. I eventually tracked it down to a bloated mouse corpse gently cooking behind the radiator. One of our cats must have brought it in alive and then the poor bugger hid up behind the rad and pegged it.
