Broke by dose...

I think my nose got broken the other day at Karate, anyone had this happen and know who I talk to about seeing if it was or any cartlege was displaced?

Get an appointment at your local hospital with the Ear, Nose and throat specialist, explain what's happened.

 

I had my nose broken once, and bits of bone came out in the blood........

Had my nose broke a couple of times.  Sorry to be boring but if you suspect it then get it checked properly by a professional, non-fretboard doctor.  If you lose your looks Frank then you're fucked.

It wasn't a big hit, I've got a slightly wonky nose at which I think is just bruising.

It didn't bleed that much.

I guess if I'm worried about it I should go to the ENT - it's just our local doesn't have an MRI or ought.

The guy I see was a 3rd Dan in Goju Ryu so at least I'd pick up a few tips for counters.

Or at least learning to move quicker.

It doesn't always bleed a lot - that's dependent on the individual.

I was just hoping someone would know the quickest route through the NHS to get it looked at. Not necessarily today but this week.

As for looks, it has been said I've a face only a mother could love... I used to think it meant my own mother, but it turns out it means the mother of my own kids.

Well part of the problem is, this guy is new, he's a great boxer, my guard is awful and I can't use my roundhouse kick too much atm as I've a back injury going on.. probably from the tiny crazy Japanese MMA instructor at the gym I've joined.. I've had 2 45 minute CV workouts with loads of roundhouse kicks in and it's forced me to be less sloppy as I can barely walk the day after...

On the plus side Derek Williams teaches at this gym and as a 6'5" heavy weight he'll probably have an excellent guard. So I'll join his class and see what he says

My nose always used to explode when I did Judo, I was thinking of getting it caurturised - not so now.

Mine's always bled like a motherfucker (actually any head injury), I've never seen a broken nose which didn't have a fair amount of blood (I've seen a few from rugby)

Go sooner rather than later.  Sometimes to fix they need to rebreak it if you don't go soon enough.  Mine was broken mid exams in high school, and by the time I got the hospital it was too late to put right again.

I miss getting punched in the face in Karate, did it a lot as a kid.  When you have to stand with your hands behind your back and trust the other person who is testing their arm length haha. Sucker punch after sucker punch...ahhh to be 11 again.

A couple of years ago some twat punched me in the face in Portsmouth (I suppose that will teach me to go there... we were staying overnight before a ferry to France), not sure if he broke my nose or not! It was a bit crooked-looking, and the police said I should go to the hospital and have it checked since if it was broken it would mean they charged the twat with ABH instead of common assault.

So I went up to the hospital, waited a while, then got checked - but they wouldn't tell me if it was broken or not, or x-ray it, since "we don't x-ray for minor things like that" - despite telling them that was the whole point of the examination! A bit of a waste of time really. Worse, they signed me off driving for 48 hours in case I had concussion (I didn't) so my wife had to do it all for the first two days of the holiday in France.

I was careful to make sure it was straight and not bump it again while it healed, and it doesn't look obviously broken like a boxer's nose now, but I still to this day don't know - I think there might be a *tiny* lump on the bone that I don't think was there before, but I can't be sure, I probably wouldn't have noticed before anyway.

It wasn't that bad. Could have been worse, the twat could have had a knife or something. I just had a swollen nose and a bit of a black eye for week… he got a fine and a criminal record. Well, probably an extension to one, if the policeman was right about him .

It did make me think about self-defence, but in practice it was so unexpected that I didn't have time to take my hands out of my pockets, and once it was clear he wasn't going to have another go I made a conscious decision not to fight back, which made it easy for the police - absolutely open and shut case.

Mines been broken about 3 times lol. Doesn't bother me apart from I can't pick one side properly

A mixture of that and caution - not knowing if he did have a weapon, and given he was slightly bigger than me, I didn't want to get into an actual fight. I did surprise myself slightly that I was able to remain calm though! It's very easy to react instinctively without thinking.

I broke mine when was about 10. Fell face first into pavement. Was told at the time it's difficult to tell with kids...

I now have a bent nose and difficulties when I have a cold/hayfever as on one side my nasal passage is collapsed. A smaller hole on one side if you will...

Went to see my GP as an adult - they put me in touch with a specialist so that's the route you probably need to take.

Was offered surgery to improve the innards (not arsed about cosmetics) but work and general life got in the way.

Get it looked at is my advice, and if needed - take any corrective measures sooner rather than later.

Could be an ideal opportunity to have a nose job without feeling vain. Famous people do this and blame a 'deviated septum'....

Sting's was 'sinus problems' I seem to remember.
