Reading this thread made me realise I've only bought two albums which were released this year; Richard Thompson's 'Acoustic Classics' and Pink Floyd's 'The Endless River'. Neither could really be considered 'new' music.

I need to check out some of the other stuff that's been posted....
That Pink Floyd LP was utterly disappointing.

Couple of weeks I went to see a gig by the charming Nicola Farnon with her trio, plus the excellent Alan Barnes on sax/clarinet. And was indeed charmed - bought a few albums, of which I particularly like "Hitting the Right Note" and "A Day at the Market". There really is some great talent on the British jazz scene at the moment.

walkin' bass PLUS vocals? very impressive indeed

I'm going to get a lot of stick for this I know, but it has to be done :).

I just got an album for my 8-year-old daughter. It's a band I'm fairly familiar with from their singles, none of which I particularly like (including from this album), but I have to say the bulk of the album is really...

    ...quite good. Actually shockingly so.

So, with apologies in advance to Bucket (who I know can't stand them!), it is -

    One Direction - Four

Yes I'm serious :D. Obviously it's generic highly-manufactured pop music, but actually the standard of recording, production and even some of the songwriting is really not too bad at all.

"Take these three items, some WD-40, a vise grip, and a roll of duct tape. Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone." - Walt Kowalski

"Only two things are infinite - the universe, and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the universe." - Albert Einstein
