'Emotional' animations

What's Hot

I'm just watching 'Up' again on TV. The first 20 minute section brings a lump to my throat every time. Another animation that really moves me is the old 70s version of the Selfish giant. The end scenes I always seem to get something in my eye! Any other nominations?

Yep, agree with you on Up.

The last 20 minutes of Toy Story 3 gets me proper choked up too.

Jesse's song in Toy Story 2 where she recalls being loved, then forgotten and finally abandoned gets me reet chocked up.

Nothing beats that sequence in Up, just phenomenal.  I find Wall-E very moving at the beginning and also the end of Toy Story 3.

I wasn't exactly in floods of tears, but Gru reading bedtime stories to the little girls in Despicable Me was... nice.

And I dimly remember an animated version of Oscar Wilde's The Happy Prince which was rather moving.

    Bambi's mother..........

Agreed about the Pixar stuff.  I've always liked that they're not worried about getting realllly sad.

Great call! how could I forget Toy Story 2. That is a wonderful scene. I love the bit at the start: Woody has only one arm and is shattered at thinking he has been emotionally rejected, but he still goes off and rescues the penguin despite all that! and I also like the bit where they go back for Jessie at the airport, open the case and she's all curled up like she's accepted her fate. The toy story film are great messages on being there for others and not giving up on your friends when the odds are stacked against you.

Without doubt one of my favourite films. Vin Diesel did the Giants voice for that

That one gets my vote as well.

Classic Disney tactic, intro, early shock, even death, (bambi / finding memo), find yourself, confront and defeat your foes. I fall for it every time. Even Cars gets to me!

When I was a kid, there was a really melancholy animated thing about a mole - possibly created in Eastern Europe?

Anyone else remember this, or did I dream it?

Yeah that bit in the Lion King. Nothing beats Dumbo though.
