I don't think I would get on with an 8 string. I can barely play my 7 string. Post clips and a review of your amp when you get it, but put it in the right section - it's called off topic for a reason

I have a black dwarf lop called Gilmour you can cuddle if you like Holn?  I just told him about the albino hamster and he was really nonplussed, but he can be a bit stuck up sometimes.

Wow. I'm seriously impressed...I don't think I've ever heard of anybody starting with an 8-string. Now that I think about it, it's probably quite a sensible thing to do if you're into that kind of music - if you make sure that you learn to use all 8 instead of just chugging on the bottom three.

Just decided I'd learn basics on an acoustic and develop everything on an 8 so that the jump from a 6 doesn't kill me. Plus I plan to be able to play all sorts of metal, and shread like nothing else (although we could be looking at 10 years until that!) However, I have motivation and songs to learn to keep me going, so should be fine @digitalscream

An 8 string ERG is just as mystifying as a regular 6 if you're just starting out so don't sweat it
