It seems to have gotten way more shit recently since now it updates you on stuff your friends are liking from thier friends are doing so my feed is full of weddings and babies and shit of people I dont even know.

I keep it because the IM system is handy I guess.

Just because there is a load of shyte posted doesn't mean you have to read any of it, just put on your rose tinted specs.

Contact with bands past and present and distant family is handy. Occasional posts about proud dad things (I know it's bores folks). I won't sign up for the data extraction of the new messaging so thats out. I get the notifications and then text or even....you know, talk to them.

I can't be rid of mine, most of the band planning seems to revolve around FB I can kinda see the advantages though, easier to do group messages and get everyone's can/can't do gig responses all in one place; I've become involved in some quite unusual creative projects because of 'shout-outs' on Facebook too. Oh, and my last band swung a tour with one of my all-time heroes because of finding a random Twitter post, so if you're in a band you're kind of doing yourself a disservice if you abandon the whole social media thing, like it or not.
