  • screwfix have been knocking them out fairly cheapish for months now.
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

I've been looking at them on Amazon for the past few weeks but they seem to be imported and there are lot of them failing. The Aldi ones are BS marked and have a 3 year warranty. £12.99, and for me a brilliant mod for my kitchen!

  • Hows it wired at the back?  Does it need a sparks to fit it or would reasonably competent DIY'er be capable.

^^^ Basically the same as wiring plug, just make sure you switch off the electric at your fuse box first.

Yeah. Switch off your electric, unscrew your existing faceplate. Then it's just a case of swapping the Live, Neutral and Earth cables to the back of this one then screw this one on to your wall. 5 minutes work!

Aye but the ones I've seen have either been cheap imports with questionable safety issues or upwards of £20. Or chrome! I needed a white one with British Standards on it, and at £12.99 in my local supermarket on my way home it is ideal for me.

Do those sockets draw power even when no sub cable is plugged in? Like phone chargers do. Not a lot of power I grant you but a few watts over time become a Kilowatt hour.

  • Looked at them in Aldi tonight and thought what am I going to gain? My usb lead is already plugged into my charger into the wall so to use it I have to unplug it from the wall wart loose that then try and find it again when I'm going somewhere else where I might need to charge something?

Happy to consider a cave, but it needs to have leecy and broadband.
