Not impossible. Pretty sure there are pictures in the liner notes of my Machine Head CD where you can see AC30s, presumably used on the recording. I've head all sorts of odd rumours about Blackmore's gear at different times though- tape recorders as preamps?

I think the DSL50 is a brilliant amp! I'm not wholly convinced by some of these mods. Plenty of great music has been written & recorded on stock gear.
