Bad Times - Again - slight update

As many of you will know Mrs Travisthedog had Breast Cancer in 2012 - she has successful treatment, chemo, radio, herceptin, tamoxifen - the lot

She's had a bad back for at least 12 years, but in October she was lifting our daughter into the car and she felt something "go" in her mid back.

She's managed it well with osteopathy since then but of late it's been getting worse. The doc sent her for an X-ray and then we get the call to say they want to do a bone scan as there is something "different" in the T6 vertebrae - you can imagine the free fall panic we are in.

Then Thursday morning she got out of bed and went downstairs and about 5 mins later I heard her screaming for me. I ran downstairs to find her stood locked upright and unable to move. Such was her level of pain i called an ambulance who couldn't get her pain down with morphine and entonox.

She's in hospital now and had another xray - still showing changes although the doc this afternoon said the T6 vertebrae has actually collapsed.

There are many things that can cause this - and of course cancer is one of them. Her drugs - tamoxifen - causes reduction in bone density and osteoporosis as well so that may have happened in what is already a very weak part of her back.

They can't do a bone scan until fucking Tuesday so we are in total limbo.

I am terrified so god knows how she is feeling. They have (very slowly) got her pain down (she's saying a 5 now where it was a 9 yesterday)

But our whole future as a family hangs on Tuesday - this will be the longest four days of our lives.

I hate the lucky poos thing you lot do on here and I know most of you aren't religeous but we could really use some collective positive energy for us

Fuck so sorry to hear this, I also don't roll with the lucky poos or place my faith in fairies but think that positive attitude is a big thing at times like this, both your own, your mrs' and those around you.

My thoughts are with you. Drs are pretty fucking clever these days mate. Good luck x

If it is the worst, it can be zapped away if it's localised, someone I work for had spine cancer, now they just have a big hole and metal pins like a weight lifter. That sort of cancer is very specific and unrelated to something going metastatic. People get it from living in the country or something strange. She might have been more prone to osteoporosis depending on the initial treatment, but 3 years seems a bit premature unless it's in the family. Wish you all the best and glad the pain has gone down to a 5.

Shit mate, being in limbo must be the hardest thing with moods swinging from posative to negative the more you think about it. Best wishes with you both to get through this together, seeing the person you love most in the world in pain is horrible, and a lot worse when there's fear it could be something serious causing it.

Be together and get through this together like you have done with every other obstacle during your relationship.
