Thanks for all the suggestions guys, so far we have:

Badass OD - Sounded ok, but heard that it can sound fizzy (at TGP)
I think whoever suggested that probably had cloth ears. If anything the Badass OD is a bit too smooth.

This is the best vid of it:

I might be thinking of the 78.... In which case I stand corrected

    This is true.

The badass pedals all stack amazingly well. I tried the gold one with the red one, and alone each were great and together they were great. Not many pedal pairings accomplish that really!

The 78 is based on a DS-1 (Which came out in 1978!) so it is a bit on the fizzy side and not a pedal I was that enamoured with. The Super Badass is wicked cool however.

  • Blackstar HT Dual?
    TC Nova Drive?

Had great results with both and both have separate crunch and higher gain stages...

The Custom Badass78 dist isn't fizzy. I guess it *could* be made fizzy, but in the same way any pedal *could* get fizzy.

I've never made any of my MXRs sound fizzy (Dist3, Custom Badass78, Distortion+)

  • I just remember I used to use the TC Electronic mojomojo and a ZVEX distortron to really good effect as a pair.
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

If your looking at the Bognor Red Id check out the Goosoniqueworx 7thvn. Not an easy pedal to get hold of. But ask any of the GASFEST crowd from last sept & its a pretty huge & dynamic sounding Distortion. This demo is ok, but run one at 12v and its huge

  • The POT is just the most audiophile quality drive I've ever played, same for the KoT as well I guess, as they're pretty much the same.

I keep abandoning it for more 'fun', or 'cooler' sounding pedals, but whenever I get a bit fatigued by all the biting, nasally mids (which I am a fan of by and large) I just seem to keep coming back to the PoT. It's a posh sounding, versatile drive.
