Boss TU-2s, about 3 or 4 knocking around, and a TU-3 on my main board.

I just like em.  They are like really good mates who won't let you down and they're not afraid to tell you the truth about your guitar's tuning.  You need that kind of honesty in a relationship.  I figure Boss have earned it.

  • TU3. Boss enclosures are by far my favourite and it is nice you get the choice of bypass or mute tuning from a hardware perspective (dunno if you can access it from a menu in the PB).

Polytune Mini on my board now, but that's only for space reasons, I still have my trusty old TU-2!

Boss. I don't like pedals with click switches if I can avoid them.

But I may get a Polytune… I do love the Polytune app on my phone. Although it works so well that I may not need a tuner pedal any more.
I love the app too. Not so good half way through a set when you've been ambitious with the trem but neglected your Big Bends Nut Sauce application.

Strangely, no. I don't find it as accurate.

You mean the pseudo-strobe mode which is more accurate and easier to use quickly than the standard mode?

Or am I missing an important difference between the TU-2 and TU-3 (which I haven't tried)?

Strobe mode is great, I saw a guitarist use it once at a gig when I was in the upper stands and its so bright I could have tuned from where I was standing

Polytune mini is everything a tuner should be, the version 2 also has the power to burn your retinas out!

Really? I hate it, I must be doing something wrong. Although normal mode on tu3 is easy, quick and accurate so I do it that way happily.

I like the pseudo-strobe mode, I find it much easier to use quickly on stage because it gives you a much better sense of how fast you're approaching the right pitch, so you don't overshoot, and it's easier to get it to stop just right without jittering back and forth. I haven't tried the TU-3 yet though, and I do know they've improved the basic accuracy compared to the TU-2, so maybe the 3 is easier in normal mode.
