OK, first off did you buy a matched set of 5952s or have you just picked two randomly?
The trim pot is for biasing the 5952 JFets (or ensuring they are running at the 'correct' voltage so to speak). It's usually a 250K but looks like you've used a 200K which should work. Phaser 45/90s are fairly straight forward to bias as there's not ideal voltage so no measuring needed. Bias varies dependent on each transistor set. As you if you turn the trim pot it will range from no noticeable effect through to self oscillation. Between the two you will hit a smallish window where the phaser works as you would expect. Within that small range you have to use your ears and try various speed setting to strike the best balance.
