FX pedals you want to try

You might not have any use for it, or maybe it'll cover ground you've already covered, but the itch just needs to be scratched and you've saved eBay searches for them, just in case they crop up cheap...

I've a few.

Boss sd-2 - seems oddly rare. Demos make it sound like the lead mode is an epic, thick crunch. Probably covered by my df-2.

Zoom hyper fuzz - it looks bonkers. I doubt I'd have a use for it, but I want it anyway.

Boss pitch shifter/delay - sounds like great fun, I could whittle away hours playing hysteria and noodling with it. Doubt I'd use it much after that, though...

Moog trem. Bonkers. Nuff said.

Boss dm2. What the hell do I need slap back for? God knows, but it looks like a cool pedal and would increase my tgp points by ten I reckon.

Son of freakenstein. Bonkers. Has a throw switch, which makes it really damn cool.

What odd balls do you fancy trying?

Honestly I haven't looked at pedals since I re-jigged my board just after Christmas. That said I'd really like to try an MXR Micro Chorus. I honestly think that's about it though.

@stickyfiddle ; you really should, does everything a good chorus needs to do, without any bad sounds. Compared to, (for example) a Boss, there's way less variables which make it straight forward. Really good pedal.

I think we've had this conversation before. It really looks excellent. I went for a Univibe on my recent board shuffle but I'm sure I'll get an MC as well eventually.

Yeah man, the micro chorus is a brilliant sounding pedal.

Probably. I shall be building an "80's rock/VanHalen" board, and the MC is likely to be chorus-of-choice on said board. It'll sit well with the Phase90 and Microflanger I have planned for said board.

I'm looking at a univibe for my "Hendrixy board" (see other thread) and the MXR is what I'm really looking at (Yes I'm an MXR whorebag).

I really want to try a Whammy 5, I want to know if it's going to be just a noise making machine or if I'll actually get use out of it.

  • Just to add to my list, Fairfield Accountant.  The rest of the range doesn't interest me massively, but that looks interesting.

    And, realistically, everything @gavhaus has.

Whammys are werid because its not like a lilttle "something extra" to your sound like a delay or a mod or something. It announces its presence very loudly. Useless 90% of the time until that one moment when you write a part around it, rather than trying to fit it in when its not needed and its awesome.
