I have just noticed- I can't recall ONE female poster on here. Wonder why? I mean I know more guys play guitar than ladies, but strange we don't have at least one?

I blame the Modmins...

Being serious for a moment...why?

My wife's a member of a crafting forum with a similar gender make-up in the opposite direction - when somebody on there raised the issue of the lack of men, the response was essentially "Meh...if they want to join in, they're welcome to come and find us."

I see no reason to beg women to come here. We're not hard to find. The thing is, you'll find a similar gender split on any guitar forum out there; the conclusion has to be female guitarists are fewer in number than men (confirmed in principle by the BBC), and those that do exist largely don't seem to want to waste their time talking about it on forums. If it was just us with a small female contingent I'd be worried, but it really doesn't seem to be.

Most guitarist are men, most guitarists that wish to post on guitar forums are men. I'm amazed we have even 4% females here. I'm not sure there's anything they/we can do about it, or if there's any need for it?

I've probably skewed the membership profile a bit.

Over the 18mths (or so) we've been going, I'd guess that I've deleted somewhere over 3,000 ladies who've attemtped to sign up.

Sorry.

At least, they've appeared to be ladies, based on their proposed user IDs.

We could have had some interesting threads with Jenna18XX and SusieSux and all their friends.  Many of them had interesting looking web sites that they wanted to share with us too.

Strange fact - probably >80% of the attemtped spammers have used female identities.
