    @GavHaus ???

    what you want?
    The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

    Its a decent price- the OT change is not great though. Partridges make a lot of the tone in those

    your definatly right , i agree 100% . partridges are the mutts nuts . this was the recomended transformer by my  amp tech ! to find a original partridge transformer is hard too and have a big price tag. , it still sounds killer though with this new one, everything else is original in amp. if it does not sell i wont be to upset :)

    Is there a discenable difference in tone after the OT replacement?

    the amp was in storage for prob 15 years or more  . it was my dads i just got it fixed a couple of weeks ago. i was there with the tech when he replaced the transformer. he had the amp up on the scope and said it is working perfect and all components are original nothing changed bar the ot and a new plug . i played it and it sounds great . i have not played another hiwatt myself to say i know the difference , i have 2 bad cats and a matchless and the hiwatt definatly has that real boutique hand wired amp tone . and takes pedals really well and is very loud !.

    Ben- yes, for sure. The Partridges (and don't ask me why) are one of the magical ingredients that form the Hiwatt greatness.

    ironically there are 2 for sale on Ebay right now for £150 each.

    Apparently they're a bitch to rewind too- there's one guy that specialises in the rewinding of them, but no company really offeres a like fo like- close, but not the same.

    Those 2 on ebay aren't from a Hiwatt they're from a Carlsbro apparently. Guy thinks they are the same, I wouldn't chance it
