Which guitar with hum buckers?

What's Hot
I've only got guitars with single-coils and the last few days have been a bit of a nightmare for hum. I'll be looking to get a new guitar with hum buckers. Probably got a budget of around £350. Lp style most likely but I'm not sure I want something too heavy and that is probably unlikely with an LP style. I like the look/sound of a Vintage v100 lemon drop or a tokai love rock but what else should I consider?

You could get a good SG or Tele for that, even a fat strat. There are also the countless Ibanez/Jackson/ESP models availiable. PRS also make some nice guitars, but not for that budget.

  • I only want stuff with two hum buckers. Not really into ibanez etc...

I guess an SG, I think some Squier Teles also have 2 humbuckers.

The John 5 Tele and the Jim Root Tele have Dual Humbuckers. You can also have the Vintage Modified ones with the wide range humbuckers.

SG seems a good call, or a double cut LP with buckers.

Fck humbuckers. Get summat with one P90 and learn to deal with the noise.

    I did wonder about a Epi 335...

    Epiphone ES-339?

Constructed like a 335, but smaller; not as heavy as a Les Paul - something of a halfway house between the two, in fact.

    (There's a P-90 version too)

Embrace the Hum, love it and cherish it, but get a Humbucker Guitar anyway cos choice is great. You can get a nice EVH Wolfgang for £350.

  • I will embrace it, I won't move the single-coil guitars on but it's been very annoying in the last few days so I definitely want to do something about it.

Of course, exceptionally noisy is indeed a problem. It's just me, I couldn't live without a Guitar with Single Coils (as long as they weren't noisy that is) Lol.

You do right to get a HB Guitar though, having both options is great. If you're not much of a Wolfgang fan, there are some nice looking Gretsch's Pro Jets on G.G in that price range.

My Lemon Drop weighs about 8.5lbs. I use a 3" wide strap and have no issues with weight (or balance).

Have you got your single coil guitars shielded? It makes a real difference.

  • I may need to look into doing something about it. The last few days they've been nigh on unplayable as the hum has been so bad.

I don't understand why the hum from your single-coils should have suddenly become any worse than usual in the last few days.  Are you playing in a different room/environment?
