Give them a break lads. At least they use a hand woven italian cashmere Eric Clapton Signature sock in a nice shade of grey.

Definitely sounds that way.  Though the way Fender and Gibson are known to pressurise their retailers, nothing would surprise me.

I'm subscribed to Richard's FB page and didn't see it.  I also can't see it now after going there directly.

Hence the old expression 'sock it to me' presumably?

They sold off some of his old ones a while back.

I owned a music shop for a good number of years, and absolutely nothing would surprise me about the arrogance and high handedness of both the major brand UK distributors like Fender, and the bloody awful major wholesalers/distributors like Stentor, JSH etc etc.

They need a sock to tell whether a Strat copy looks like a Strat? Me too. Luckily I usually have a couple with me.

Very odd, I still can't see it.  Lots of reviews but can't see that post.

If you take away the imaginative narrative detail of the figurative sock, i.e. the urban myth bit, then all you have left is that "Fender puts pressure on its dealers to cease selling its competitors products". Which is undoubtedly true ;)

It's on the "Richard Guitars Richard Guitars" account not the "Richard Guitars - Guitar Specialist" account.

What would the legal implications be on this? Surely it's against some sort of competition rules.

Spent 5 minutes scripting a meeting at Fender HQ only to realise I misread the OP.

Well I believe it to be true.  I understand it was the reason that Richtone stopped selling Tokai and Edwards guitars.  They basically started selling Gibson's but had to drop the others to do that.

I would feel like a total mug for believing this.

To me it sounds up there with "I bet you can't name a city that doesn't have the letter A in it?"

    I didn't know they'd stopped!  Shows how observant I am....  :(

Thank you, that would be why then, I had no idea there were two sites :)
