Wood Binding is much nicer, though I agree it can be testing. I'm going wood hunting hopefully the weekend after this one - I want to have a look at some Tasmanian Blackwood to see if it'll work as binding on an Acoustic.

Nice.

I'm from Tasmania actually.

Blackwood is great and bends easily although for binding I would try to get the less figured stuff- it can tear out quite easily.

Good stuff, and I'm loving the fact that it's an acoustic build which makes a refreshing change from electrics.

I used ebony binding on my acoustic build.  I'm delighted with it but not convinced I wouldn't go for plastic next time too

Update.

The binding is on now- just need to clean it up tomorrow.

Did some further shaping of the neck heel- will be starting the false tenon and looking at getting the neck on soon.

Update:

Binding is 100% done now, aside from some final scraping.

Today I've been finishing off shaping the neck, which is mostly done, except for a few minor issues.

I've also started cutting out the tenon slot.

Last photo I've considered not publicising because it looks messy.

It is supposed to look a bit messy because when you cut the tenon out it helps to use a saw to cut out random bits of the waste.

It means you can more easily remove the waste with the chisel as it comes out in small chunks.

I took it about an hour before I left- by the time I finished it was mostly done.

I'll take a new picture of it finished tomorrow.

Lol, stig wears an Arai helmet I think. And, yes it was a bit odd to be hacking into it.

The Stig wears a Simpson helmet, they used to be illegal in the UK for some reason (I think it was something to do with the small visor area).

Update:

Today I have really only worked on the tenon.

Very fine work with the chisel (mostly 12mm with some 6mm and 26mm) to get it square- lots of 90 degree angles to work on to get this right.

Looking pretty good but I still have a few more hours work on it I think.

I am trying especially hard on this as I want it to be right and also to have a bit of professional pride in my work, given the last few days conversation on the forum.
